The collaborative projects allow modelers to employ a comparative modeling approach to address
a common "base" question across models. Sometimes widely different results from models are often difficult
to resolve, and base cases provide a chance to reach common consensus on important questions, and to better
understand differences between models. The base cases can serve as a jumping off point for each
grantee as they vary the basic formulation to focus on areas of individual interest.
- Breast Base Case - A collaboration between
Consortium members who model breast cancer to address the issue of the impact
of mammography and adjuvant therapy on current trends in breast cancer mortality
from 1975-2000.
- Colorectal Base Cases -
A collaboration between Consortium members who model colorectal cancer to
gain insight in similarities and differences between the models.
- Lung Base Cases -
A collaboration between Consortium members who model lung cancer on a set of common
simulations to gain insight in similarities and differences between the models.
- Prostate
Base Case - A collaboration between the two Consortium
members who model prostate cancer on a set of common simulations to address
the impact of PSA test on trends in prostate cancer mortality and incidence.
