Screening and Chemotherapy (Optimistic but Realistic Goals met)

This model run shows the combined effect on projected CRC mortality through 2020 if optimistic but realistic goals for both screening and chemotherapy are achieved. Risk factors continue at baseline (projected trend) levels.

• Screening tests included in the models are Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) and Endoscopy (Sigmoidoscopy or Colonoscopy).
• Chemotherapy is modeled based on two assumptions: in every case treated, the best currently available treatment is used; and chemotherapy is given to all who would potentially benefit from it.
